Hurricane season is our yearly reminder that if we don\u2019t reverse climate change we will pay for it both in the long and <\/em>short term.<\/p>\n

This month, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced a new program, worth an initial\u00a0$500 million<\/a>, with billions more to come<\/a>, designed to pay for large-scale relocation nationwide (aka managed retreat<\/a> policy).<\/p>\n

As the country begins to draft policy affecting both citizens with tribal connections to land and historically disadvantaged communities, it is imperative for lawmakers to consider principles of environmental justice.<\/p>\n
